Non-invasive testing to support endometriosis assessment

What is Endosure?

EndoSure is a non-invasive test designed to assess whether a patient may be at risk of endometriosis.

It provides a safe and painless way to support early detection.

The EndoSure Test was introduced in 2023 and is grounded in scientific research examining how endometrial tissue can affect gastrointestinal electrical activity.

This test measures patterns of myoelectrical activity that may be linked to endometriosis and is designed to complement a clinician’s assessment, alongside your symptoms, medical history, and other investigations.

How does EndoSure work?

The EndoSure Test assesses electrical activity within the abdominal region.

In a similar way to how an ECG records electrical signals from the heart, EndoSure records myoelectrical activity from the gastrointestinal tract. Certain activity patterns may be associated with the presence of endometriosis-related tissue.

The results are interpreted alongside symptoms, medical history, and clinical assessment.

What to Expect During Your Test

  • Small sensors are gently placed on your abdomen.
  • A comfortable respiratory belt is applied.
  • You’ll be asked to drink a glass of water.
  • Your myoelectrical activity is recorded for about 30 minutes.

The test is completely painless and requires no recovery time, so you can continue your day as usual.

How long will the test take?

Your full appointment usually takes about 60 minutes, giving us plenty of time to ensure you’re comfortable throughout.

When will I get my results?

Your test result can be provided to you on the day of your appointment.

You will receive a clinical report completed by our Consultant Gynecologist who specialises in endometriosis within 48 hours of your appointment.

How does it work?

The EndoSure Test measures patterns of myoelectrical activity within the abdomen. Research has shown that endometrial tissue may influence gastrointestinal electrical activity. By analysing these patterns, the test can help assess whether endometriosis may be present.

Is the EndoSure Test painful?

No. The test is non-invasive and painless. Sensors are placed on the abdomen and a respiratory belt is applied. No needles, injections, or internal examinations are required.

How do I prepare for the test?

You will be given preparation instructions before your appointment. This includes fasting for at least 8 hours before the test.

You will be advised whether you can drink water and whether any medications should be continued as normal. If you are unsure about preparation or have specific concerns, please contact the team in advance of your appointment.

How long does the test take?
